I’m in the middle of the process of claiming my blog over at Technorati. For some reason claiming brings to mind the California Gold Rush. I’m not sure why… there’s really nothing in common between the two…. or is there?

Staking claims to the gold in the Sierra Nevadas during the mid-1800’s is what led to the settlement of California and its entry into the Union. Today, online “communities” rapidly grow around a technology or common interest and are perhaps spearheaded by the early prospectors who hope to prosper from the discovery.
