How to Find Time to Include Social Media in Your Direct Sales Plan

Posted by Linda Stacy in February, 2013

We live busy lives and Direct Sales Consultants are some of the busiest. You’re likely balancing your business with family responsibilities and maybe even another job. Not to mention volunteer work and hopefully some down time to rest and enjoy life. So how do you find time to get online and build your direct sales business? It’s a common conundrum. Fortunately, there are tried and true solutions.

How to become a SocialMediaManager

#1 Give it 20 minutes of your day

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by social media. There are a number of sites you probably feel like you need to pay attention to and a growing list of marketing tactics to try and content to provide. Instead of trying to squeeze an hour or two of time into your schedule, try to find 20 minutes each day. That’s it. You might even divide it into two 10 minute segments. The key to this tactic is to do it every day. Don’t miss a day and roll it over to the next day. It’ll be a challenge to find 40 minutes.

#2 Make it a Habit

Network on social media sites during the same time every day. For example, make it part of your lunchtime activities. Post on social sites in the evening when you’re watching television.

#3 Create a Plan

Sit down once a month and decide what you’re going to post, why you’re going to post it, and when. Create a detailed schedule so that you know, when you sit down every day to post, exactly what you’re trying to accomplish. For example, maybe you post links to industry news every Monday and fun pictures of customers with your products on Wednesdays.

#4 Get Mobile

You don’t have to network from your home office desktop. You can network any time you have a few minutes, for example while you’re waiting in line at the grocery store or at your kid’s soccer game. You’re probably adept at multi-tasking. Take advantage of small pockets of time and network to build your business.

#5 Integrate Your Efforts

Many of the major social networking sites link up with each other. For example, you can post a pin on Pinterest that links to your Facebook page and then is also posted on Twitter. You can schedule a blog post. Schedule a Tweet to that blog post and then link it automatically to Facebook. There’s no reason why you have to duplicate your efforts. Make the most of the technology available to you and maximize your social media interactions.

Finally, encourage customers to network for you.

Ask them to post testimonials, pictures, videos and other comments about your direct sales products. It’s a great way to boost your reputation as a direct sales consultant and increase your income.
